According to Alai “life is a journey. Don’t take the same path every day but explore different routes as you wander along.”
Music is his life and therefore an ongoing journey. Maybe you know him as Hip Hop artist as which he started his musical career or maybe as Afrofusion musician as which he proceeded afterwards. As Alai continues with his journey, he discovers new musical styles, instruments and methods. Believing that there are no limits in music, Alai is creating a new, distinct style that he calls Vumbi music. It’s a fresh and unique form of Kenyan dance music that refers to the former street disco-esque way of enjoying music. Special about this style is not only its extraordinary, “out-of-the-box” sound but also the fact that it is 100% self-made. The first three songs – Ayeya, Nina Furaha and Pombe si Maji – that Alai is releasing now mark his debut as a producer. Listen, enjoy and share some of Kenya’s most talented and home-grown music!
